Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I’m telling lies.
I say,
It’s in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It’s the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can’t touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can’t see.
I say,
It’s in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Now you understand
Just why my head’s not bowed.
I don’t shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It’s in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
‘Cause I’m a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That’s me.
Of course not! But…I admit it, I have a thing for clothes. I like to study people and what they wear and I enjoy considering my own clothing. It’s not that it all has to be designer labels (although that stuff fits great) but I care about what I wear and I appreciate what clothing can do for me and how certain pieces make me feel. I understand what it means to conform to society’s norms without being a drone, to enjoy being me and celebrating my own sense of style. I think I miss going to an office mostly for the high heels I got to wear once in a while. There’s something about walking in high heels, brings to mind a poem by Maya Angelou, Phenomenal Woman. Okay, now I have to put the poem in, don’t I? See the next post for it!
The whole point of this is to say that sometimes a certain pair of jeans, or certain shoes just make us feel phenomenal! Nia pants are the perfect example (www.NiaNow.com). They are swishy. They act as an extension of the body, dancing and prancing and bringing out all kinds of sassiness. They are luscious.
I think my next cool Nia dance pant purchase will come from ActivewearUSA. Check out some of these original pants from Margarita!

ActivewearUSA has tons of other fun dance and everyday wear too.

I love the concept of selling the entire outfit. Here is one from Tiempo Libre that looks cute and something one could wear to the gym, to a class, to a tennis match, or just about town: http://www.activewearusa.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=12351&idaffiliate=33.
And the colors!!! I’ll stop before this starts sounding like an advertisement. But I’ll post back later after I’ve had a chance to put my hands on some of this stuff, wear it around, sweat in it and wash it a couple times.
